As a Lifestyle Manager I often get asked for advice and recommendations on restaurants and bars for events, parties and special occasions. With Mother’s Day shortly approaching I found it only fitting to put together in my opinion the Top 5 Afternoon Teas that both London and Surrey have to offer for every Mother’s special day ~ Sunday 18th March.

- Orange Pekoe
3 White Hart Lane, Barnes, London SW13 0PX
The Orange Pekoe was actually the first tea room that came to mind when I decided to write this Mother’s Day blog.
Crowned as the Best London Tea Room by Time Out in their 2008 Food & Drink Awards and recognised as among ‘Britain’s Best Afternoon Teas’ by the prestigious Tea Guilds, the Orange Pekoe has been a firm favourite of mine for many years and one that I have recommended to many of my friends and clients.
Perfectly located in Barnes a stones throw from the banks of the River Thames and less than 25 minutes from London Waterloo. The Orange Pekoe is ideal for any tea lover, with an impressive range of over 50 loose leaf teas to choose from. All of which are beautiful displayed in tea caddies along the entrance wall at the very front of the tea room.
The owner Marianna has put together a lovely spread for Mother’s Day. Booking as usual will be required as even on the dreariest of days in Barnes the Orange Pekoe is always busy.
Their award winning Afternoon Tea will be a real treat to any lucky Mother this Mother’s Day with all Mum’s receiving a complimentary glass of Champagne on arrival.
Afternoon Tea will be served from 2pm–5pm with an assortment of finger sandwiches, one hot scone served with lashings of Cornish clotted cream & strawberry preserve, followed by a slice of cake of your choice from the cake bar and a pot of tea of your choice from the tea bar.
As an extra special Mother’s Day treat the Orange Pekoe are giving each Mother a mini gift caddie of tea of their choice to take home.
